Planning and approvals in Ayr

In Scotland the questions are whether the extension falls within householder permitted development (Classes 1A to 1D) or needs planning permission from the council, and the building warrant, which is required before construction begins and is followed by a completion certificate.

Before any drawing is finalised we check whether the house is listed, in a conservation area or subject to an Article 4 direction.

Scotland has no Party Wall Act. Where work affects a shared wall or a neighbour's land, we agree access, protection and making good with your neighbour in writing before work starts.

Applications are decided by your council as planning authority.

Covering Ayr

Site visits are available across Ayr (KA7, KA8, KA9). We also work in nearby Troon (6 miles), Irvine (11 miles), Kilmarnock (12 miles), Kilwinning (13 miles).

Just over the Renfrewshire and Inverclyde border, Newton Mearns is about 24 miles away. Scotland's housing includes sandstone villas, terraces and tenements in the cities and plenty of post-war and modern houses and bungalows elsewhere. A building warrant is needed before work starts.
